This atmospheric and mystical town is the cultural and historical heart of Zanzibar. It was constructed from coral stone during the 19th and 20th century. It was declared a World Heritage Site in 2000. Stone Town is a very lively place where you’ll find a mixture of Arabic, African, Indian and European cultures living comfortably together. Itinerary

DAY 1:

Morning at 09:00hrs, your tour starts with a pick up from the Hotel (depending on your hotel location) and drive to Stone town for a tour.

You will see the National Museum of Zanzibar (rebuilt in 1883) which is also referred to as the Peace Memorial Museum. The museum holds a wide collection of the island’s natural history and artifacts. Then you will walk to the Forodhani Gardens, where you will see the former British Consulate, a place where explorers such as Dr. Livingston and Stanley came for administrative matters before explorations.

We will also explore the Old Fort, which is situated a few meters away, and the tallest building in Zanzibar, House of Wonders, which was built by the Sultan as a ceremonial and administrative building. With a refreshing walk in the narrow streets we will explore the old houses, most of which are older than 150 years.

Later you will visit Maruhubi where we will see the Ruins of Sultan Barghash’s Palace

While passing along bazaar streets towards the famous Freddie Mercury House.

See the old slave market, fruit market, and spice market — don’t miss the classic Zanzibar curved doors decorating the stone town.

Proceed to your tour to Spice Farm.  Discover how these islands produce cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and black pepper. For this reason, the Zanzibar Archipelago, together with Tanzania’s Mafia Island, is sometimes called the “Spice Islands”.

There are many spice farms in Zanzibar and for the next portion of the tour; you will visit a real organic spice farm. When you arrive, the spice farm guide will describe how the spices are grown and used as medication and flavor in dishes. See spices like vanilla, cardamom, nutmeg, and many more. It will be possible to touch, smell and taste the spices and herbs directly from plants.

Later, take the opportunity to join a cassava leaf harvest, make coconut milk, and practice some cooking. Even more, a coconut tree climber will pick some fresh young coconut fruits for you to try.

End the trip with the opportunity to purchase spices from the shop (cash only).

You will visit Prison Island for a tour that’s all about snorkeling and sunbathing on one of Zanzibar’s most pristine beaches.

This inclusive tour features a seafood lunch, snorkeling gear, snacks, and door-to-door transport from Zanzibar hotels to ensure a hassle-free day of exploring the coast, with plenty of time to enjoy beautiful The Prison Island.

See the Giant tortoises of Prison Island. Go off-shore to experience a beautiful, trash-free Zanzibar beach. Seafood lunch features Zanzibar flavors Round-trip transport provided tour takes care of all the logistics.

Later on, you will return to your hotel.
